Grant Program: Safe Streets and Roads for All

Project Name/Description: City of Harrisburg Downtown Traffic Signal Retiming: The City of Harrisburg is awarded almost $1 million in funding to address an increase in traffic fatalities by retiming 25 signalized intersections in the core downtown area. The City presently suffers worsening signal-related safety issues, and poorly timed traffic intervals which lead to driver and pedestrian confusion. The project retimes the downtown network, creates consistent leading pedestrian intervals, updates pedestrian clearance times, and implements innovative strategies to improve safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit. The entire proposed project area occurs within underserved communities.

Total Federal Funding: $955,184
